Engineering News-Record (ENR) recognizes Steve Muck as a Top 25 Construction Newsmaker for developing a unique partnership with world-class robotic experts to create an autonomous rebar-tying robot.
PITTSBURGH, PA – February 15, 2018 – Steve Muck, Co-Founder & CEO of TyBot, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Construction Robotics, Inc. (ACR), received national recognition by Engineering News-Record (ENR) as one of the Top 25 Newsmakers of 2017.
ENR states that winners of this award have served the "best interests of the construction industry and the public in 2017; they innovate, they overcome challenges, and their accomplishments offer benefits that will have an impact beyond their own companies or institutions."
Mr. Muck’s journey into robotics began in 2015 when he attended a Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) seminar and began thinking about the impact technology could have on his primary business, Brayman Construction, a large, nationally recognized provider of complex, heavy civil construction projects, and one of Pittsburgh’s Largest Construction Contractors and Private Companies, according to the Pittsburgh Business’ Times 2017 Book of Lists.
Since that 2015 seminar, Mr. Muck partnered with Jeremy Searock, formerly a Technical Program Manager at CMU’s National Robotics Engineering Center, to launch ACR and TyBot, LLC which has commercialized its first product, TyBot®, an autonomous rebar-tying robot that can augment and reduce labor need in the most critical path activity of bridge deck construction.
The Annual Top 25 Newsmakers award winners are selected at the end of each year and recognized by ENR. Mr. Muck was featured in the ENR article highlighting award winners for 2017, which can be viewed at:
